How Much Is the 2026 Lexus NX?

By Jared Gall

August 29, 2025

The little Lexus NX is comfortably in middle age, yet it’s still one of the brand’s bestsellers as the current generation enters its fifth model year. Lexus is dumping the base 250 powertrain for 2026, but it’s looking to expand the compact SUV’s appeal by significantly diversifying the remaining lineup with new combinations of the NX’s three powertrains and four trim levels.

What’s New With the 2026 Lexus NX?

The hybrid NX 350h, previously only available with all-wheel drive, can now be had in lower-priced front-wheel-drive form. The base price of the plug-in hybrid NX 450h+ likewise drops, with the addition of the more lightly furnished Premium trim level (previously, the PHEV was only available in the range-topping Luxury and F Sport Handling trims). And whereas the F Sport Handling was formerly available only on the 450h+ and gas-powered NX 350, Lexus is now offering the package’s sport suspension and adaptive dampers on the regular hybrid 350h, as well.

What Are the 2026 Lexus NX’s Powertrain Specs, MPG and 450h+ Range?

Now that the NX 250 is gone from the lineup, the hybrid 350h is the most affordable NX. It pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with electric assist for total output of 240 horsepower and 270 pounds-feet of torque, routed through a continuously variable automatic transmission. FWD is standard, and AWD is available on every trim level for an additional $1,550. The FWD NX 350h gets a manufacturer-rated 42/38/40 mpg city/highway/combined, while the AWD SUV returns 41/37/39 mpg (official EPA estimates for 2026 are not yet available)

A turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 275 hp and 317 pounds-feet powers the NX 350, backed by an eight-speed automatic and standard AWD. It returns a Lexus-rated 21/28/24 mpg.

The NX 450h+ gets a retuned version of the same 2.5-liter four-cylinder from the 350h, with more powerful electric motors upping output to 304 hp. Torque remains at 270 pounds-feet, and the CVT returns. AWD is standard on the NX 450h+. A larger battery pack grants the plug-in hybrid NX up to a brand-estimated 37 miles of electric range and a 34 mpg combined rating when the gas engine is running.

Availability and Pricing

The 2026 Lexus NX will go on sale later in 2025. Full pricing (including the $1,295 destination charge) is as follows:

NX 350h

  • Base: $45,470
  • Premium: $47,395
  • Luxury: $51,535
  • F Sport Handling: $53,945

NX 350

  • Base: $46,120
  • Premium: $48,045
  • Luxury: $52,185
  • F Sport Handling: $52,095

NX 450h+

  • Premium: $59,105
  • Luxury: $63,035
  • F Sport Handling: $64,125

What Are the 2026 Lexus NX’s Trim Levels?

For the most part, the NX’s trim levels are identical regardless of powertrain. In other words, buyers will find the same content in the Luxury trim on the NX 350h, NX 350 and NX 450h+. Base models include 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, a power liftgate and windshield-wiper de-icers. Inside are synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, a digital instrument panel, a 9.8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and 10 speakers.

The Premium trim adds a moonroof, hands-free power liftgate, heated and ventilated front seats, ambient cabin lighting and a power tilt/telescoping steering column. A heated steering wheel is also standard on the NX 450h+.

Step up to the NX Luxury and you’ll also get upgraded LED headlights, genuine leather, a 14-inch touchscreen with navigation and a rearview mirror camera. On the NX 450h+, the Luxury also includes 20-inch wheels.

Riding on a sport-tuned suspension with adaptive dampers, the F Sport Handling stands apart from the rest of the NX line thanks to its monochromatic exterior with body-color fender trim and dark-gray 20-inch wheels. With the 350 and 350h powertrains, it is otherwise equipped similarly to the base trim level but with upgraded headlights, a heated steering wheel and ambient lighting. Many features that are not available on the base trim are optional on the F Sport, and the 450h+ F Sport Handling also includes the heated and ventilated front seats, larger touchscreen and rearview mirror camera.

Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is standard on the 2026 NX and includes forward collision warning with pedestrian and bicyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, oncoming vehicle detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-tracing assist, emergency steering assist, road-sign recognition and automatic high beams. Blind spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert and parking sensors with automatic braking are also standard.

A head-up display is optional on the Premium trim and standard on the Luxury and F Sport. A 360-degree camera system is optional on all but the base trim, and automated parking is available for the Luxury and F Sport Handling.

Ford Recalls 105,000-Plus Mustangs for Loss of Exterior Lighting

By Corinne Vercoe

August 29, 2025

Shareford mustang dark horse 2024 02 exterior front angle jpg2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse | Cars.com photo by Adam Biba

The recalls keep on comin’ for the Blue Oval. Today, it’s more than 105,400 examples of the Ford Mustang that are affected by an issue with the exterior lighting.

Related: More Ford News

Affected vehicles include model-year 2024-25 Mustang sports cars. Water may have entered the body control module in these vehicles; as a result, the license plate, side markers and taillights may not illuminate as intended, decreasing visibility for other drivers and increasing the risk of a crash.

As a fix, dealers will inspect and seal the body seams, as well as inspect the body control module for corrosion and replace it, as necessary, for free. Interim letters notifying owners of the issue are expected to be mailed Sept. 1; a second letter will be sent out once the remedy is available, which Ford anticipates will be in the first quarter of 2026. Those with further questions can contact the automaker at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 25C43), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.

Is the 2025 Audi RS 6 Avant a Good Car? 4 Pros, 2 Cons

By Jim Travers

August 29, 2025

Shareaudi rs6 avant 2024 02 exterior dynamic front angle scaled jpg2024 Audi RS 6 Avant Performance | Cars.com photo by Brandon Lim

For the 2024 model year, Audi made some notable updates to the performance-focused RS 6 Avant wagon, not the least of which squeezed yet more power out of its already potent twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine. The juiced-up wagon’s other changes include a weight loss program that shaved about 60 pounds from its overall weight. The net result is a sharp-handling car with a 0-60 mph acceleration time of just 3.3 seconds.

The American market has never embraced the idea of a performance station wagon as much as its European counterpart, but we still have the privilege of choosing between upscale alternatives such as the BMW M5 Touring and upcoming 2026 Mercedes-AMG E53 Hybrid Wagon. All provide better handling and a more dynamic driving experience than an SUV while still offering seating for five occupants, more cargo room than a sedan and standard all-wheel drive. For 2025, the RS 6 Avant GT joined the Performance trim in the lineup and added goodies such as a carbon-fiber hood and front fenders.

Cars.com’s West Coast Editor Conner Golden spent time with an RS 6 Avant Performance on both the crowded highways and the twisty canyons of Southern California, and he came away impressed with this wagon’s performance — but not all is perfect. Tap the link above to read his expert review; for a quicker rundown, read on to learn four things we like about the Audi RS 6 Avant and two things we do not.

What Do We Like About the Audi RS 6 Avant?

audi rs6 avant 2024 18 interior engine 2 jpg2024 Audi RS 6 Avant | Cars.com photo by Brandon Lim

1. Old-School Powertrain

With a honkin’ twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 under the hood, the RS 6 Avant takes a more old-school approach to horsepower than most modern performance cars and their hybrid or all-electric powertrains. Instead of adding a battery and electric motors, engineers gave the V-8 larger turbos and other tweaks, sizzling the wick for another 30 hp. Combined with its 48-volt mild-hybrid system, the wagon’s total output increases to 621 hp and 627 pounds-feet of torque. With an eight-speed automatic transmission and AWD, the RS 6 Avant is ferociously quick yet refined, all the while cranking out evocative V-8 thunder.

2. Commendable Cabin

The RS 6 Avant’s interior vibe is typical of a modern Audi, with quality materials and an upscale ambiance that combines traditional luxury cues with modern tech. A heavily digitized dashboard combines three vivid displays and Audi’s excellent MMI infotainment interface. If that’s not enough, an available Executive Package adds soft-close doors, extended leather and heated rear seats. Other options include a Bang & Olufsen sound system and night-vision tech.

3. Weight Loss Program

Reduced sound insulation, a new wheel design and a lighter center differential all add up to shave about 60 pounds in curb weight, which helps keep this Audi barely under the 5,000-pound mark. While it’s no lightweight, the RS 6 Avant is respectably agile for a five-seat wagon, and 621 hp is more than enough to make this car incredibly quick.

4. Canyon Carver

With massive P285/30R Continental SportContact 7 summer tires mounted on 22-inch wheels, the RS 6 Avant serves up buckets of grip and smooth power transfer to help rip through corners with ease. An adaptive air suspension helps smooth out the rough stuff, but it’s still on the firm side even in its most civilized setting. The Audi’s electric power steering is accurate (though it lacks feel), while massive disc brakes provide lots of stopping power and are easy to modulate.

What Do We Dislike About the Audi RS 6 Avant?

audi rs6 avant 2024 16 exterior wheel scaled jpg2024 Audi RS 6 Avant | Cars.com photo by Brandon Lim

1. Big-Tire Blues

The RS 6 Avant’s standard adaptive air suspension does a commendable job smoothing out rough surfaces, but it can only compensate for those big 22-inch wheels and fat summer tires so much. Even on the suspension’s softest setting, we experienced more road noise and impact harshness than expected.

2. Act Now

Wagons have been on the endangered species list for years, and that goes double for performance wagons. Add in that the RS 6 Avant is still powered by a V-8 when others have gone to more fuel-efficient powertrains and its days would seem to be more limited than most. If a long roof with the performance of a sports sedan is on your shopping list, it might be wise to start shopping soon.
