While the Maruti Victoris and Grand Vitara are larger and more feature-loaded SUVs, the Brezza still makes a strong case with its value-for-money appeal

Maruti has revealed the Victoris compact SUV, which will sit between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara in the brand’s lineup, which might make it feel difficult to make a choice between the three. While we have already made individual comparisons between the Victoris and Grand Vitara, and the Victoris and Brezza, the ultimate choice depends on which Maruti SUV will suit your needs the best. If you are confused, here’s a detailed comparison to help you decide:
Prices

Maruti Victoris Price Range (expected) | Maruti Grand Vitara Price Range | Maruti Brezza Price Range |
Rs 9.75 lakh to Rs 20 lakh | Rs 11.42 lakh to Rs 20.68 lakh | Rs 8.69 lakh to Rs 14.14 lakh |
*All prices are ex-showroom
The Brezza is the smallest car in this comparison and flaunts the most affordable price tag. While Maruti is yet to reveal prices of the Victoris, it is likely to be priced a bit lower than the Grand Vitara as it will be offered through the Arena chain of dealerships.
Dimensions
Dimensions | Maruti Victoris | Maruti Grand Vitara | Maruti Brezza |
Length | 4360 mm | 4345 mm | 3995 mm |
Width | 1795 mm | 1795 mm | 1790 mm |
Height | 1655 mm | 1645 mm | 1685 mm |
Wheelbase | 2600 mm | 2600 mm | 2500 mm |

The Maruti Brezza is a sub-4m SUV and hence is the smallest in terms of length with a shorter wheelbase than both Victoris and Grand Vitara. The width of all three Maruti offerings is almost identical. That being said, the Brezza is the tallest SUV in this comparison, followed by the Victoris and the Grand Vitara, respectively.
While Maruti is yet to reveal the boot space numbers of all three SUVs, the Victoris gets a clear advantage with the CNG option, as it has an underbody CNG tank. The CNG tanks of Grand Vitara and Brezza, on the other hand, are placed inside the boot, which eats up a lot of luggage space.
Powertrain Options

Specifications | Maruti Victoris / Maruti Grand Vitara | Maruti Brezza
Engine | 1.5-litre mild hybrid petrol engine | 1.5-litre strong hybrid engine | 1.5-litre petrol+CNG option | 1.5-litre mild hybrid petrol engine | 1.5-litre petrol+CNG option |
Power | 103 PS | 116 PS (combined) | 88 PS | 103 PS | 88 PS |
Torque | 139 Nm | 141 Nm | 121.5 Nm | 139 Nm | 121.5 Nm |
Transmission* | 5-speed MT, 6-speed AT | e-CVT | 5-speed MT | 5-speed MT, 6-speed AT | 5-speed MT |
Drivetrain^ | FWD /AWD (AT Only) | FWD | FWD | FWD | FWD |
*AT = Torque converter automatic transmission; e-CVT = Electronic continuously variable automatic transmission
^FWD = Front-wheel-drive; AWD = All-wheel-drive
The Brezza comes with the same mild-hybrid and CNG engine options as the Victoris and Grand Vitara. The performance is also identical for these powertrain options. That being said, an AWD option is being offered with the Victoris and Grand Vitara, which is missing on the Brezza.
Not just this, but the Victoris and Grand Vitara come with a strong hybrid engine too, which is the most potent in this comparison.
Engine | 1.5-litre strong hybrid engine | 1.5-litre mild hybrid petrol engine | 1.5-litre petrol+CNG option |
Maruti Victoris Claimed Fuel Efficiency | 28.65 kmpl | 21.18 kmpl (FWD MT) / 21.06 kmpl (FWD AT) / 19.07 kmpl (AWD AT) | 27.02 km/kg |
Maruti Grand Vitara Claimed Fuel Efficiency | 27.97 kmpl | 21.11 kmpl (FWD MT) / 20.58 kmpl (FWD AT) / 19.20 kmpl (AWD AT) | 26.6 km/kg |
Maruti Brezza Claimed Fuel Efficiency | Brezza does not get this engine option | Up to 19.89 kmpl (MT) / 19.80 kmpl (AT) | 25.51 km/kg |
Not only is the strong-hybrid engine the most potent option in the lineup, but it is also the most frugal option in the lot. Amongst the Victoris and Grand Vitara, it is the Victoris that reigns supreme in fuel efficiency.
The case is similar in the CNG option, where the Victoris’ engine comes out as the most fuel-efficient option.

The Victoris stands out over the Grand Vitara with extra features like front fog lamps, a dual-tone cabin theme, a larger 10.25-inch driver’s display, a bigger touchscreen, a better 8-speaker Infinity sound system, a powered tailgate with gesture control and Level-2 ADAS. These additions make it feel more premium than the Grand Vitara, which otherwise shares most of the equipment.
Compared to the Brezza, the Victoris also feels more upmarket with its larger alloy wheels, leatherette upholstery, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, auto-dimming IRVM and more advanced safety kit. The Brezza covers the basics with features like a cooled glovebox, a single-pane sunroof and a 9-inch Arkamys system, but misses out on many of the premium touches found in the Victoris.
Between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara, the Grand Vitara offers a more sophisticated cabin, additional features like ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof and AWD terrain modes, making it the more premium choice, though it lacks the ADAS advantage of the Victoris.
Verdict

The Maruti Victoris looks set to be the most well-rounded of the three. It offers more features, a modern design, a stronger safety suite with Level-2 ADAS and even a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating. If Maruti prices it below the Grand Vitara, which is likely given its Arena positioning, the Victoris will be the smarter choice overall.

The Maruti Grand Vitara, on the other hand, is still a solid contender for buyers who do not want to wait for the Victoris. It also remains the only one here with a strong-hybrid powertrain and all-wheel drive, both of which give it a unique edge over its rivals.
20250415_215810.jpg)
Lastly, the Maruti Brezza makes sense if budget is the primary concern. It covers all the essentials with decent features and space, but without the premium touches or hybrid tech. For someone who wants a more affordable SUV, the Brezza is still a safe bet.
All-in-all, the Maruti Victoris looks like a strong contender not just in its segment, but also when compared with other segments. We will wait for prices once the Victoris is launched.

The Maruti Victoris not only offers more premium features over the Brezza, including a Level-2 ADAS and bigger screens, but it also has a 5-star rating from Bharat NCAP

The Maruti Victoris compact SUV was recently unveiled to bridge the gap between the Maruti Brezza and Maruti Grand Vitara. While the Victoris sits a segment higher than the Brezza, offering more premium amenities, both of these SUVs share the same mild-hybrid petrol and CNG powertrain options. MarutiLet’s check out how these SUVs stack up against each other in terms of specifications and features on paper.
Dimensions
Dimensions | Maruti Victoris | Maruti Brezza | Difference |
Length | 4360 mm | 3995 mm | + 365 mm |
Width | 1795 mm | 1790 mm | + 5 mm |
Height | 1655 mm | 1685 mm | (-) 30 mm |
Wheelbase | 2600 mm | 2500 mm | + 100 mm |
- The Victoris is a compact SUV and has a clear length and width advantage over the Maruti Brezza. It is 365 mm longer and 5 mm wider compared to Maruti’s sub-4m SUV.
- Owing to its length advantage, the Victoris also has a 100 mm longer wheelbase than that of the Brezza.
- However, the Brezza is 30 mm taller than the Maruti Victoris.
- Unlike the Brezza CNG, the Victoris CNG has an underbody CNG tank. This arrangement helps make the boot more usable.

- The 1.5-litre mild-hybrid naturally aspirated petrol engine in the Maruti Victoris is the same as the one offered in the Maruti Brezza. It produces 103 PS and 139 Nm, and comes paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
- The same engine is also offered with a CNG option in both models in the same state of tune (88 PS and 121.5 Nm).
- Interestingly, the Victoris mild-hybrid-manual is more fuel-efficient than the Brezza. In its manual guise, the Victoris delivers up to 3.38 kmpl more, while in automatic, it offers 1.26 kmpl higher fuel efficiency than the Brezza.
- With the CNG option, the Victoris is 1.51 km/kg more efficient than the Brezza.
- Maruti also offers the Victoris with a strong-hybrid powertrain option, which it borrows from the Grand Vitara. It makes 116 PS and 141 Nm, and is only being offered with an e-CVT automatic gearbox. Note that the Victoris strong-hybrid offers the highest claimed fuel efficiency in this comparison.
- Also, the 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol version of the Victoris can be had with an optional AWD drivetrain with the torque converter gearbox.

- In terms of design, the Maruti Victoris has more premium lighting elements like pixel-affect connected LED DRLs and connected LED tail lights, over the Maruti Brezza.
- Inside, the Victoris once again has a more upmarket cabin as it gets leatherette upholstery and 64-colour ambient lighting, unlike the Brezza, which comes with fabric seats.
- The Victoris gets a bigger 10.1-inch touchscreen along with a 10.25-inch fully digital driver’s display. The Brezza, on the other hand, comes with a smaller 9-inch touchscreen and misses out on a digital driver’s display.
- While the Maruti Brezza gets a 6-speaker Arkamys-tuned sound system, the Victoris has an 8-speaker Infinity system with Dolby Atmos surround sound. The latter should offer a better acoustic experience than those in the Brezza, considering that it also gets 2 extra speakers with a subwoofer.
- Maruti offers the Victroris with premium features like 8-way powered driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, and a panoramic sunroof, all of which are absent on the Brezza. The Maruti Brezza still gets a single-pane sunroof.
- In terms of safety, both SUVs come equipped with 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), and a 360-degree camera. The Victroris additionally gets all-wheel disc brakes, front parking sensors, and most importantly, a complete suite of level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) (first ever for a Maruti offering).
- The Maruti Victoris has recently secured a full 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP. The Brezza, on the other hand, was previously crash-tested by Global NCAP, where it received a 4-star rating. However, the Brezza is yet to be tested under the updated safety protocols.
Price
Maruti Victoris | Maruti Brezza |
Rs 9.75 lakh to Rs 20 lakh (expected) | Rs 8.69 lakh to Rs 14.14 lakh |
All prices are ex-showroom
Maruti is yet to announce the prices for the Victoris compact SUV. However, it is expected to start from around Rs 9.75 lakh. Considering the Brezza’s price range, some mid-spec mild-hybrid petrol variants of the Victoris could be priced close to the top-spec variants of the Brezza. Just like the Brezza, the Victoris will also be sold through Maruti’s Arena chain of dealerships.
Final Takeaway

From the above comparison, it’s clear that the Maruti Victoris is not only has bigger dimensions compared to the Brezza, but also offers more premium amenities and a wider range of powertrain options, including a strong-hybrid and an AWD drivetrain with its mild-hybrid petrol engine. The Brezza, on the other hand, is available only with mild-hybrid petrol and CNG. Interestingly, the Victoris is also slightly more fuel-efficient than the Brezza in mild-hybrid form. Beyond that, it comes with additional safety features and has secured a 5-star safety rating from BNCAP. All in all, it stands as the more premium choice over the Brezza, with a premium price tag.

If you’re looking for a more feature-rich SUV and can stretch your budget, the Maruti Victoris is worth the wait. However, if you’d rather save money and don’t mind compromising on certain features, the Brezza remains a reliable choice.

Maruti Victoris vs Maruti Grand Vitara: Which Maruti Compact SUV Is The Better Option?

While both Maruti compact SUVs get the same powertrain options, the Victoris gets a handful of features that set it apart from the Grand Vitara

With the recent unveiling of the Maruti Victoris, the carmaker now has two compact SUVs in the market alongside the Maruti Grand Vitara. While both Maruti compact SUV offerings get a different exterior and interior design, they get similar powertrain options and an almost-identical convenience and safety feature suite. All of this can make it difficult for you to make a choice between the Victoris and the Grand Vitara.
If you are torn between choosing one that makes more sense to you, here’s a detailed comparison between the Maruti Victoris and Maruti Grand Vitara to make it easier for you to buy the better Maruti SUV.
Prices
Maruti Victoris Price Range (expected) | Maruti Grand Vitara Price Range |
Rs 9.75 lakh to Rs 20 lakh | Rs 11.42 lakh to Rs 20.68 lakh |
*All prices are ex-showroom
Maruti is yet to disclose the new Victoris prices, but we expect them to commence from Rs 9.75 lakh (ex-showroom), which will undercut the Grand Vitara’s base-spec Delta trim by a considerable margin. Moreover, the top-spec variants of both compact SUVs are also expected to have a decent price difference, with the Victoris being the more affordable alternative of the two, as it will be offered through the carmaker’s Arena chain of dealerships.
Dimensions
Dimensions | Maruti Victoris | Maruti Grand Vitara | Difference |
Length | 4360 mm | 4345 mm | + 15 mm |
Width | 1795 mm | 1795 mm | No difference |
Height | 1655 mm | 1645 mm | + 10 mm |
Wheelbase | 2600 mm | 2600 mm | No difference |
As seen in the table, the Maruti Victoris and Grand Vitara share the same wheelbase and width. The new Arena flagship is 15 mm longer and 10 mm taller than the Nexa compact SUV, but this would not make a major difference in real-life conditions.
What would make a difference, however, is that the CNG tank in the Victoris is placed on the underside of the SUV, which does not hamper the boot space. On the other hand, the Grand Vitara’s CNG tank is placed inside the boot area, meaning there is a slight compromise in its luggage carrying capacity, thus making the Victoris a better choice for long road trips.
Powertrain Options

The powertrain department is one aspect where the Victoris and Grand Vitara are identical, as both compact SUVs get the same mild-hybrid, strong-hybrid and CNG options. Here are the details:
Engine | 1.5-litre strong hybrid engine | 1.5-litre mild hybrid petrol engine | 1.5-litre petrol+CNG option |
Power | 116 PS (combined) | 103 PS | 88 PS |
Torque | 141 Nm (Hybrid) | 137 Nm | 121.5 Nm |
Transmission* | e-CVT | 5-speed MT / 6-speed AT | 5-speed MT |
Drivetrain^ | FWD | FWD / AWD (AT only) | FWD |
*AT = Torque converter automatic transmission; eCVT = Electronic continuously variable automatic transmission
^FWD = Front-wheel-drive; AWD = All-wheel-drive
However, one aspect where the two Maruti siblings differ slightly is the claimed fuel efficiency they have.
Engine | 1.5-litre strong hybrid engine | 1.5-litre mild hybrid petrol engine | 1.5-litre petrol+CNG option |
Maruti Victoris Claimed Fuel Efficiency | 28.65 kmpl | 21.18 kmpl (FWD MT) / 21.06 kmpl (FWD AT) / 19.07 kmpl (AWD AT) | 27.02 km/kg |
Maruti Grand Vitara Claimed Fuel Efficiency | 27.97 kmpl | 21.11 kmpl (FWD MT) / 20.58 kmpl (FWD AT) / 19.20 kmpl (AWD AT) | 26.6 km/kg |
As the table suggests, the Victoris is more frugal with the strong hybrid (0.68 kmpl more) and CNG options (0.42 kmpl more). With the mid hybrid-manual and automatic (FWD) combinations too, the Arena offering has a slightly better fuel efficiency (0.07 kmpl and 0.48 kmpl more, respectively) than the Nexa model. On the other hand, with the torque converter gearbox, the Grand Vitara is more fuel efficient with the AWD setup (0.13 kmpl).

As mentioned earlier, while the exterior and interior design of both Maruti compact SUVs are different, the Grand Vitara gets an all-black cabin theme with bronze accents, while the Victoris gets a dual-tone cabin theme, which could make the interior feel airier than the Nexa offering. The Grand Vitara also misses out on front fog lamps that are offered with the Victoris.
In terms of features, everything is more or less the same, save for the Victoris packing in a bigger touchscreen infotainment system, a larger digital driver’s display, 64-colour ambient lighting, a powered tailgate with gesture controls and a better sound system. All of these are offered in the Victoris and make it feel more premium.
Not just this, but the Victoris also gets a Level-2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) suite and flaunts a 5-star Bharat NCAP badge, which makes it feel like a safer option compared to the Grand Vitara, which is yet to be crash tested.
Verdict

The Maruti Victoris and Maruti Grand Vitara can be considered two peas from the same pod, with the former being a more modern and feature-rich offering compared to the Nexa model. It is also safer on paper with its 5-star Bharat NCAP credibility and a Level-2 ADAS suite, both of which are missing on the Grand Vitara.
So, the ultimate choice comes down to the prices which Maruti will put on the Victoris. If it is priced lower than the Grand Vitara, which we are expecting the carmaker to do, considering its other Arena Vs Nexa products, the Victoris will hands-down be the better option amongst the two.

That being said, if you want a Maruti compact SUV now and are not eager to wait for the Victoris to launch, the Grand Vitara is also a good enough option.
But what will you choose and why? Tell us in the comments below.

The Citroen Basalt X is going to feature an all-black exterior and interior design, with some brown elements inside the cabin

After the launch of the Citroen C3 X in India, the French carmaker is readying the Citroen Basalt X, pre-bookings of which are already open at pan-India Citroen dealerships. The carmaker had teased the special edition SUV-coupe recently and said that it will go on sale tomorrow, on September 5, 2025. If you are interested in getting your hands on the Basalt X model, here’s everything you need to know about it:
Expected Exterior Design

The teaser image of the Citroen Basalt X reveals that the special edition SUV-coupe will come with an all-black exterior theme. However, it can come with some other colour options, as seen with the Citroen C3 X. What is also seen in the teaser video is that it will get the same 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

Other than this, everything else, including the LED projector headlights, wraparound LED tail lights, and a sloping roofline.
Expected Interior Design

Inside, the teaser images show that the Basalt X will get a dual-tone black and brown theme, which could be carried over to the leatherette seat upholstery to round off the cabin design. To make it feel more premium, Citroen might equip it with ambient lighting, as a noticeable translucent trim is visible in the teased model. It will also get a rear centre armrest with two cupholders, which is not offered with the regular Basalt.

Other than this, everything else, including the 3-spoke steering wheel and chrome accents on the air-con vents of the regular model, is expected to be carried over to the Basalt X.
Expected Features And Safety

The feature suite, except for the ambient lighting, is expected to be the same as the regular model, including a 7-inch digital driver’s display, a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 6-speaker sound system, auto AC with rear vents and a wireless phone charger. It will also continue with an adjustable under-thigh support, but will omit a sunroof of any sort.
The safety suit is also expected to be similar with features including 6 airbags (as standard), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill hold assist and ISOFIX child seat anchorages. However, it can be offered with a 360-degree camera as an optional accessory.
Expected Powertrain Options

The Citroen Basalt X is expected to be powered by the same naturally aspirated and turbo-petrol engine options, the detailed specifications of which are as follows:
Engine | 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine | 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine
Power | 110 PS | 110 PS | 82 PS |
Torque | 190 Nm | 205 Nm | 115 Nm |
Transmission | 6-speed MT | 6-speed AT* | 5-speed MT |
*AT = Torque converter automatic transmission
To make the Citroen Basalt X feel more premium than the regular SUV-coupe, Citroen can offer it with the more potent turbo-petrol option.
Expected Price And Rivals
The Citroen Basalt X range will command a slight premium over the regular Basalt, prices of which range from Rs 8.32 lakh to Rs 14.10 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). It will rival the Tata Curvv while being a stylish alternative to compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Citroen Aircross, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and also the upcoming Maruti Victoris.

The Citroen Basalt X is based on the top-spec Max variant of the regular model and comes with a dual-tone interior theme and a lot of new features

- Exterior design comes with the same design, including all-LED lights and dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels.
- Gets a black and tan interior theme with the higher variant, while the mid-spec model gets a grey and white interior hue.
- Other additions include a rear centre armrest with cupholders, cruise control and ambient lighting.
- Other features, including a 10.2-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch driver’s display, are carried over to the Basalt X.
- Powered by the more potent 110 PS turbo-petrol engine.
Citroen has launched the Basalt X SUV-coupe in India, prices of which range between Rs 11.63 lakh and Rs 12.90 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). It is based on the top-spec Max trim. While it has a similar exterior design to the regular model, it gets a new dual-tone theme inside with new features including ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera and ambient lighting that spices things up in the cabin. That being said, here’s everything you need to know about the special edition Basalt variant:
What’s New?
The exterior design of the Citroen Basalt X is similar to the regular model with V-shaped LED DRLs, projector LED headlights, and wraparound LED tail lights. What’s different, however, is that the Basalt X comes with lighting strips on the grille and model-specific badging on the tailgate. Other than this, it continues to come with 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, the design of which is the same as the regular model and rugged body cladding on the lower portion of the SUV-coupe.

Unlike the exterior design, it is the interior that gets black and tan cabin theme which looks more premium than the all-white interior of the regular SUV-coupe. Other than this, a rear centre armrest with twin cupholders can be seen, which will be a new feature for the SUV-coupe.
On the features front, Citroen has added ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, cruise control, auto-dimming IRVM, push-button-start/stop and ambient lighting to make the interior look more modern and fashionable.
What’s The Same?
Like the regular model, the Citroen Basalt X continues with a 7-inch digital driver’s display, a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and an adjustable under-thigh support for rear seat passengers. It also gets a wireless phone charger, auto AC with rear vents, but misses out on any kind of sunroof like the regular Basalt.
The safety suite is equipped with 6 airbags (as standard), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill hold assist, ISOFIX child seat anchorages and a rear parking camera with sensors
Powertrain Options
The Citroen Basalt comes with two engine options, the details of which are as follows:
Engine | 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine | 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine
Power | 82 PS | 110 PS | 110 PS |
Torque | 115 Nm | 190 Nm | 205 Nm |
Transmission | 5-speed MT | 6-speed MT | 6-speed AT* |
*AT = Torque converter automatic transmission
As the Citroen Basalt X is based on the fully-loaded Max trim, it comes with the more potent turbo-petrol option with both manual and automatic transmission choices.
Rivals

The Citroen Basalt X locks horns with the Tata Curvv, while being a stylish option to compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and also the upcoming Maruti Victoris.
